 History

Workabilities Clubhouse opened a clubhouse model of programming on 7/6/2009.  The program is modeled off of the Fountain House clubhouse in New York.  The purpose of the clubhouse is to help members move towards their vocational goals.  There is a strong sense of ownership by the members in that they feel accepted at the clubhouse each day, have a sense of being actively needed, and recognize their contribution is critical to the clubhouse functioning.  Membership is voluntary and for a lifetime.

Clubhouse Community

The units that the clubhouse offers include the following: Clerical, Food Services, and Employment.  The Clerical Unit offers members the chance to learn or improve on their skills in the following areas: receptionist duties, billing, data input, outreach, tours, filing, copying, typing, research, and graphic arts.  The Food Service Unit offers members the opportunity to build or improve on their skills in the following areas: food shopping, meal prep, budgeting, cash register operation, kitchen maintenance, bookkeeping, etc.  The Employment Unit offers member the resources to develop skills in completing applications, resume writing, interview skills, and job search, etc.  The resources to maintain employment are offered through transitional employment, supported employment, and independent employment.
