 History

 

West Place Clubhouse opened as a drop-in center in 1991. In 1998, the Clubhouse model was implemented. The clubhouse was then known as New Beginnings Clubhouse. By April of 2002, our clubhouse received its very first 1 year certification from the ICCD. The clubhouse and drop-in center also joined names during that time. In 2003 and 2006, West Place received 3 year certifications. Recently West Place went through another certification process and is waiting on a response from the ICCD.

 

Clubhouse Community

 

West Place Clubhouse has an Employment, Member Services, Clerical, Education and Food service unit. The work-ordered day is from 8:30 to 4:00, Monday through Friday. Both the clubhouse staff and members work together in completing the work that is generated by the clubhouse. The clubhouse has a variety of opportunities for members to get involved with including learning new skills as well as a variety of Supportive and Transitional employment.  At 4:00 daily the social program begins. The clubhouse socialization component is also open on Saturdays from 12:00 to 8:00 pm. The social program consists of a variety of social activities including games, movies, dances and community events.

 

 

Directions 

From New Stanton Turnpike Exit:

            Take ramp to I-70 East. Continue straight. Road name changes to US-1109. Continue approximately 5 miles. Road then changes to US-119, SR 66 Bus., South Main Street. Continue going straight for approximately 1.2 miles. West Place is across from the PNC Bank. If you pass Westmoreland County Court House you went too far.

 

From Irwin Turnpike Exit:

            Take ramp to US-30. Follow US-30 for approximately 8.2 miles. Take the Pittsburgh Street Exit (one way street). Continue on Pittsburgh Street for approximately 1.2 miles. You will pass Excela Health Westmoreland on your right. Turn right at red light onto US-119/ SR 66 Bus/ South Main Street.
