History
Lexington House opened its doors in 1999 and has grown over the last decade. We have the kitchen and clerical unit at Lexington Clubhouse. We are connected to an auspice agency, which is helpful because it helps us better direct members to other needed local services. We became a licensed facility in January 2010 and we will be applying for re-certified with the ICCD in the next several months. We at one time had a 3 year certification, but lost the certification at the time of renewal because we lost our director. We are in the process of having a fully functioning small convenience store built and donated from the Sheetz Corporation in our facility to add to the job skills we can offer to our members.
Clubhouse Community
We have the kitchen and clerical unit at Lexington Clubhouse. The clerical unit offers a variety of skills such as members learning reception services, recording keeping for example of daily attendance records, calculating of daily statistics and numerous other clerical tasks. Members will become knowledgeable on phone etiquette, computers, fax machines, how to talk with others in a work setting, copiers, newsletter writing and banking needs. Our kitchen unit members learn how to create a menu, prepare daily meals, food preparation safety, how to shop for groceries/prepare a list, budgeting for food etc. Members will further learn the proper use of kitchen equipment. They will also have the opportunity to utilize a cash register, produce receipts, stocking and tracking of items. We offer 6 transitional employment sites throughout the community, which employ 7 individuals. Our clubhouse work order day is from 8-4 Monday thru Friday, offering extended hours every other Wednesday 4-8 and Saturday 10-2. We are open every holiday from 10-2 and the event is arranged around what the members would like to do to celebrate. We also do several other events throughout the year, for example several picnics at local parks, and the members pick several bigger events like a hockey game, going to an amusement park etc on top of our scheduled extended hours that are determined by the members.
